Launching ceremony of ‘Virusara’ Privilege Card

The launching ceremony of  ‘ Virusara’ Privilege Card and granting 100 scholarships worth Rs 50,000, aiming the benefit of the family members in Northern and Eastern provinces who were hard hit by war and the children of war heroes, came about on 25th January 2016 under the patronage of His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena at the Temple Trees.

The ‘Virusara’ Privilege Card offers a wide range of benefits in more than 45 state and private sector services in terms of medical, food and beverage, transport, loans and educational with a view to give due recognition and priority for the military personnel for the utmost sacrifices they have made.

Under the Phase I, assistance for 300,000 family members of fallen and disabled military personnel, 50 scholarships for Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim children in the war-tone area and another 50 scholarships for the children of war heroes were offered.

State Minister of Defence Hon Ruwan Wijayawardena, tri-forces commanders, members of disabled military personnel were also present on the occasion.
