Second Phase of the Virusara Privilege

Commencement of the “Virusara Privilege” Second Phase was launched at the Auditorium of the Rajarata Vidyalaya, Hingurakgoda in Pollonnaruwa on 27th of June, 2016 under the patronage of His Excellency the President Maithripala Serisena.

Army

1. War heroes confronted with 20% of disability which engaged in operational service are included.
2. War heroes who were disabled during the operational service and not provided with a medical percentage.

1. Close relations of the married war heroes contributed to the operational service and recruited before 19/05/2009
2. Close relations of the unmarried war heroes contributed to the operational service and recruited before 19/05/2009.
3. Close relations of the married war heroes who were disabled during the operational service and not provided with a medical percentage.
4. Close relations of the unmarried war heroes who were disabled during the active service and not provided with a medical percentage.

 



1. Take necessary measures to make awareness among all the branches and to expand the benefits.
2. Make awareness among the general public regarding the ‘’Virusara Card’’.

Navy

Officers and the sailors currently engaged in the service

War heroes recruited before 18th of May 2009 and had a continuous service are included.

Implemented after forwarding the duly filled applications to the Ranaviru Sewa Authority through the approval of the Director of Navy Welfare with the recommendation of the Directors-Navy persons.

Awareness should be made down to the grass- root level.

Air force

War heroes currently engaged in the active service.

Time duration of operational service before 18th of May 2009 will be concerned.

Implemented as per the seniority.

 

Department of police

Deceased and disabled War heroes during the insurgency in 1988- 1989.

   

Provide to the officers of the Inspectors Grade who were not concerned at the first phase.

Department of Civil Security

War heroes engaged in the duties.

1. War heroes engaged in the operational duties.
2. Personnel engaged in special duties.

Categories as the service period.

Time duration engaged at the operational service.

State Ministry of Defence

1. War heroes retired within the time period of 1983 to 2009.
2. War heroes engaged in the service at present and completed 10 years of service as at the year 2009.

Relevant service period during the war will be calculated.

Provide for both of the war heroes mentioned in the parameters.

Take necessary actions to concern the retired war heroes.

 

Role of implementing the Second Phase of the “Virusara Privilege”

• Provide higher benefits through identify new target groups.
• In the event of determining the suitable parameters, take necessary measures to provide more benefits to the Privilege Card holders.
• Take necessary measures to increase the efficiency in implementation.
• Identification of special matters which required to be concerned.

 

Parameters/decision taken at the Active Committee Meeting held on 2016.05.30.

• Take necessary action to include the war-heroes (excluding the deceased and disabled) who had completed 22 years of service from 1983 to 2009.
• Take necessary action to include the Civil Employees (engaged in the service of the relevant institution) who had completed 22 years of service from 1983 to 2009.
• Provide the benefits for the close relations of the war-heroes who had died on natural or other causes.
• Those who left the service on disciplinary matters are not entitled for this.
